My website is actually up and running now, had a few hiccups to begin with but it is all sorted out, largely to my friend and often advocate/mentor Mandie from EweGiveMeTheKnits!
To begin with: Hi, I'm Suzi and after a few fairly big Life Changes (code for kick in the pants??) in 2011, I decided I needed to start doing what I wanted to do with my life or get on with all the ideas I had stored in my head for years!
Now I won't bore you with the details of the Life events for me, because I have learned valuable lessons from what I have experienced and even though they haven't been the most positive experiences, each and every event taught me something about myself and others and we all have to learn right??..Well I did turn 40..and I did kinda think to myself how much more do I have to learn, but life is like that, always changing and always learning things about the world and yourself!
So I'm 40, I'm a single mum of three kids, 19,17 and 11. The two youngest live at home with me! The oldest is off to Uni this year, the second oldest year 12 and the youngest is grade 6 (big year for all three as well!).
I found myself halfway through last year in the position of having to move house and get a job (I hadn't worked outside the home for roughly 10years), finding a house was easy, the job thing not so much, I still wanted to be home for the kids after school and I found that those jobs were highly sought after. There was also that confidence issue, what if I wasn't smart enough or had enough skills, lots of what ifs...but I didn't have a choice so I just got on with it
I put myself out there though and my first job which I still do, is to waitress for functions through a friends cafe, I frequently find myself serving behind the bar and I really enjoy this!
I have done the Centerlink thing and the job search thing (my background is bookkeeping).
Through this process however I found myself thinking of old goals and dreams that I guess I had put aside through circumstances and basically a lack of confidence and decided I should give this a proper go (again I have to thanks some friends I have had for many years for their support and encouragement!), I also thought i would investigate the possibility of doing this through a Jobsearch scheme, so I applied and got into the NEIS scheme (WOW!!) and completed my business plan and they actually liked my plan of my home based, Internet business that I could work around the hours I needed too (double WOW!!).
So now I find I am doing what I love, and I can fit it in with what my family needs!.....but it doesn't rain it pours....because I also found during my business course a casual position in retail that again I actually really really enjoy, so my casual Christmas job has extended itself to a more regular basis.
Which brings me to lifestyle, I found that this working a variety of different things, suits my personality, I get bored easily and all three things I do require different aspects of my personality.
So I am so looking forward to 2012, for me I know it will be a fabulous year, I am enjoying making plans with great friends, I am enjoying the kinship of being around like minded people and being able to express my creative side! I really look forward to hopefully encouraging and inspiring others to be more creative.
So in the next few days I will outline my plan for achieving my ideal lifestyle!...and as always....its a work in progress...and the journey will be an adventure for sure!
Congratulations, Suzi. Well done (on the lifestyle change).
